Comfort Zones ......

Trying Something New and Fun.....
I don't know about the rest of you out there in "Artist Land" but I truly have a tough time trying anything I am not familiar with, you know something new? While paperclay is nothing new, me using it is. I am also a very proud and shy, yes shy, person about asking how to do something. I got burned once, quite severely, asking for help with a project from another artist so I shy away from classes by other artists and asking to many questions. I am very fortunate though to belong to an amazing group of women, "THE PFATTIES" that think nothing about reaching out their long arm of experience and helping the less knowledgeable, like me! I have learned so much from these women about art and life in the art world....NEVER SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

I guess I am rambling on about this because of my latest creation "Greta the Crow". I can't tell you how excited I am about how she turned out...simply amazing, well for me amazing, lol! I seriously think she is one of my favorite creations. I am also excited to announce that she sold to a wonderful friend and artist! THANK YOU NANCY! Having Nancy purchase Greta was such a compliment to me especially as I travel down this scary and unknown road of the world of paperclay! I think all artist type people should travel outside their comfort zone and enrich themselves with the new and undiscovered! You NEVER know what might come forth from your mind to your hands. Heck any of us could be the next Michaelangelo! Okay that's pushing the envelope a might but ya never know! Well I do know a few words of Italian so I'm at least headed in the right direction...

I just adore this creation. How blessed you are to be a part of a group where you can both receive and give. What a wonderful community. It always creates great results when we learn and grow from and with eachother. Love that. Listen to me talk. I gotta find a group to be a part of.

It makes me sad that you ran across shady characters in your creative ventures. Most of us are good people; I know you know that. Don't let one bad egg cause you not to reach out to us. We embrace you....

Ok...Thanks Pam....Ive got my 2 packages of paperclay sitting on the table intimidating me.. daring me...so thanks...cuz now I GOTTA try creating something, or Im a real scaredy Kat! It tickels me to hear "YOU" shared about any fears trying anything new...youre work is so amazing, and fun...I guess its all about how we see ourselves. who wouldthunk Pam has creative fears??? you silly goil. I loves ya.

It is funny how I tell my children, Nothing ventured, nothing gained...yet, to myself...

I am a bit of a chicken! Maybe I fear the unknown. Maybe I fear the outcome. Maybe I fear both and that is just at times, too much to handle.

I do "collect" the things I want to do or try. Things I will try in the future and then "dream" about them and then finally one day, when I have a wild HAIR, I will or do try!

It is FUNNY how we see ourselves and how others view us...TOTALLY different. It is all "food for thought", Pam.

As I tell my Children, Nothing ventured, nothing gaine. Aren't you glad you tried it.

I love playing with paperclay, but hate waiting for it to dry, to add yet another layer. HA!

Have a great day.
Hugs,
~Tonya
