Life in PODD-land.......

I'm often asked "what the heck is a PODD" and that question usually comes as the person is gasping for breath between giggles and snorts of laughter as they view one of my newest characters! PODDS are a "Soft in the Head" original and have been around for about four years now. PODD is the acronym for "Portly Original Designer Dolls". There have been so many PODD characters that they ended up with their own blog: "PODDS-ville" ..... The PODDS have truly evolved over the past four years. When I first started designing and making them they were needle sculpted and painted oblong shaped characters with no arms just wire and made to look simple. NOW....many of them have arms, feet and clay features! They still have that "Prim and Whimsical" look to them but I think their character is more pronounced! Clay offers me more options when it comes to facial features! This is most evident when it comes to my "Cheshire Cat" and "Flatfoot the Clown". I have many PODD collectors that follow "Soft in the Head" waiting for a new addition to the PODD family. My Halloween PODDS seem to be the most popular, especially "Posthumous PODD" and all the witches! Tried something new this last year and made mini-PODDS....they were a huge hit and even had a spot in the last "PRIMS" magazine. Take a few minutes and pop over to "PODDS-ville" and say Howdy, you won't be disappointed!

Love those podds. I can't decide which one is cuter. I especially love the cat.
