My Bad....

I'm Extending Christmas.......
You know how some people love to paint these images of themselves on the internet as the epitome of perfection ....with wonderful lives, awesome cooking skills and a house that is completely picture like and never messy...THEY LIE!!!!! I call them the "Harriet Nelson" wannabees! I definitely will NEVER paint a picture of my life like that...heck my Christmas tree is still up cause life just gets messy and some things get put off! Welcome to the reality at the Gracia home...massive chaos (and there is only two of us), rarely a home cooked meal (hate to cook) and OMG if I baked I'd even be larger than I am and they'd need a crane to move me from my house! There's dust (and stink bugs) everywhere and my workroom looks like Katrina stopped over after hitting New Orleans and it never left! In spite of all this I do admit that my kitchen is always clean, well almost always, the litter box is emptied on a regular basis, I wash my sheets once a week and the dust bunnies have been corralled to live only under the beds...oh yea, and "Febreeze" is my new BFF! With all this said I have probably scared any of you from ever wanting to visit...just call ahead so I can make a path to the bathroom for you, lol... just kidding, about the path not the call! I do multi-task but housework is not one of the tasks that I like to "multi" with so it's the last task that ever gets attention! When Seamus (orange tabby) gets lazy in the workroom and "meatloafs" at my feet I often move him around with my foot and at least that part of the floor is clean...to bad he isn't bigger cause than it would clean a larger area! As far as the tree is concerned, I like Christmas and heck if I keep it up than it will save me time at Christmas next year and maybe I'll even bake some cookies! Such is life!

That is hilarious, I need a good laugh, heck my Grandma used to say, don't waste your time girl, if you chase dirt all you life, then they put you in it, why bother! You're my kinda gal, leave up the tree, you could always put a dust cover over it! Go Create, a persons got betta things ta do! Happy Valentine's Day, maybe a red sheet would fit over it! You're too funny!! But, hey, you're always working so where would you get extra time?
Pam,don't fret cuz there's at least one other home like yours, mine!
My tree is STILL UP, my sweetheart just took the wreaths down from the outside windows and doors. Mom broke her hip 5 days before Christmas and was gone to surgery and rehab until the 4th week of January so we've extended the Christmas season. I too am considering leaving the damn tree up for next year, maybe I'll just move it to the 3 season porch and wait it out.
Warm Regards,
Susan Burns Western Mass.

You are such a funny lady and I like reading your blog. Keep it up, you do such wonderful work. Christmas is a lovely time of year and so short, so why not extending it, enjoy! It is your home and you can do what you want.

Can I just say you must be my twin. I put my tree up in 2009 and it is still up now. I figured that since it's in a corner and not in anyone's way, it wouldn't hurt to leave it up. And housework, well I have better things to do. I work full time and craft in my free time and there isn't much of that available when you have a husband that wants to go exploring all the time. It's not really exploring though, it's just riding around in the car and looking at the sites. Not really much fun, but it keeps him occupied and happy "sad isn't it". Unfortunately, I don't have animals so I can't use them to dust, but I do have an 8 year old granddaughter who loves to clean, "I'm sure that will change". Can't get her to clean her room though, go figure....well you take care and I love your designs...

Hi Pam,
Your blog always make me smile,, we have 2 short hair jack russells that help in my sewing room,, and a new rough coat baby,, and yes! She is great at finding dust bunnies,, I am thinking of renaming her "Swiffer" LOL
Id rather be creating than cleaning! It always waits for me anyhow!! Ontario Sue

Your craft room and mine sound the same!! I do try to clean it once a year but as soon as I start painting again it's a total mess! If people don't like it, I just shut the door and they can stay out!

Too Funny, so nice to see someone I hold with most high esteem...seem pretty normal. How refreshing, my studio would never make it in Where Women Create! That's for sure.
I just read the other day...NEVER take photos when your studio is a mess.
I had done exactly that, it's so much more interesting! I think I'll post them.
