Magic, Imagination and Adventure Lie in Wait.......

It's funny how life is just one "HUGE" circle. A wheel that continues to travel but always travels basically the same path. I see much of myself in my own children and now I see the same thing in my grand children. I discovered much of who I am in books. Books were a constant companion of mine as a child and many memories I have can be tagged to a book of some kind. Happiness as a child, in my family, was not a frequent visitor, but I'm sure many can say the same thing. How we accept or reject the adversity we contact as a child often determines the type of adult we become. If we feel that blaming others for our short comings or the conditions of our situation, then I think we only become half human because we have stunted a very important part of ourselves in excuses. We need to be responsible and compassionate or we cease to be understanding, loving, confident and thriving people. Often, I would escape from the "uglies" of the world in the confines of a good story and in that story I would also find morals...Yep morals....everything has consequences! People/Parents can tell you this over and over but until you actually absorb it you don't quite get it. As a kid the best place to find it is when your hero or heroine finds it through their adventures. Kids relate to adventures.....reading is the best gift we can give ourselves as well as our young people. Watching my grand children discover reading is nothing short of "Heaven!" To know that their lives can only be enriched and their eyes opened from this is almost a relief! Close minds only promote the "uglies" of the world.....The best gift we can ever give ourselves or someone else is a book and with that comes education! Don't ever short change our future...encourage and support a good story! Besides without a good story where would my characters go to play!
