It's A Harry Potter Weekend!

I have always encouraged reading in our family which was never a difficult thing to do with our kids. The fact of the matter is I am a HUGE book collector so they always had access to all kinds of different worlds, situations and fantasy to grab them and hold their interest. Besides Dan and I made a point to read to them every night while they were young. Our kids grew up with C.S. Lewis, J.M. Barrie and Lewis Carroll and the list goes on. Now I get to watch my grandchildren grow up with J.K. Rowling and her amazing "Harry Potter" books! I am a "Harry Potter" nut and I know I'm in good company because most, if not all, my friends are just as nutty about Harry as I am. Sooooo Dan and I are off this weekend to absorb and be entertained by yet another Harry Potter movie....I may be a Muggle but I have the heart of a wizard/witch and it seems so does our granddaughter Abby!

Oh I am with you Pam. Katers, James, his Mom and I are all going on sunday afternoon after church. Now that is kinda different huh? Go to church and see a flick about wizards and witches. I don't freaking care I lOVE HARRY potter. I haven't read all the books but like you, our kids were read to and given a book instead of a toy on payday. We took them to the book store to pick out a new treasure if they were good. Most kids had the latest toys and ours had the latest books. Our kids have imagination up the ying yang and I am proud as punch. Not to mention they are all smart as can be.
Have a wonderful weekend and I am excited to see this one.
P.S. NOthing to jealous of Girl! Silly woman.

As for the church and Harry Potter thing....The way I see it. God/Jesus is real..Potter is a fantasy from someone's mind. I don't see a conflict at all. If we can't use our imaginations, what fun would that be? Even God uses creativity. He created us didn't he! I bet he laughed his butt off afterward!

Looks like Harry Potter is going to have to wait a few days for me...have a magazine deadline that's due. My power has gone off for 3 days this week each time being 6-10 hour stretches. Put me way behind! Gotta love Harry! Thanks all.....Pam

Hope you saw the movie Pam, it was awesome! The next one, and the last one as it's the last book, will be out in November of this year as part 1 of 2 and the second part will air in July of next year and I can't wait! I've read the books at least 5 times each and maybe more and am only sorry that there are no more.

Start the Nicholas Flamel series: the Alchemist, the Magician, and the Sorceress so far - they are OUTSTANDING! Every bit as good if not better than Harry Potter!

Hugs, alba
