TDIPT This Month........

MEET "SPOT" the rabbit..."PONDERING" the mouse and "LUCINDA" the bunny...
This month I tried to stay ahead by creating these new characters before I left on my trek to the Northwest. Good thing that I did because my life has been quite full with packing and unpacking my mom into her new home and running a ton of errands. All in all it has been a bittersweet experience. Bittersweet because even though my mom is happy I see so many forgotten seniors that don't have family or friends that visit or care. When you look into their eyes and see their lonliness it can't help but twist your heart and rip at ones resolve....I silently tear-up often here.

On a more positive note I have been doing some research among the residents here and found many accomplished artists, some are still producing their art and selling it. The woman next door to my mom has the most incredible paintings. Her landscapes seem to jump off the canvas! She is 99 years old and still holds a brush with a steady hand. Her paintings are of places she remembers from her full life, many places I would like to visit. Another resident here works with wood. His small intricate trolls and gnomes come alive with every scape from his tools. His wife does the detail painting on them so their small faces can show off their wisdom and mischief. Yep art lies everywhere...even in a retirement home where the art here has had years to season!

Love the mouse on the spool.
I remember a woman in our local home that loved to paint. I wonder if you could do a blog for them, so they could showcase their art?

How bittersweet this blog is. I cannot believe that we have become such a disposable society that we can discard our elderly like a dixie cup. I could not have held myself together Pam, and know how hard it was for you. My dad also painted til the day he passed away. Art is good for the mind and the soul. Thank you for reminding us.

Hugs, alba

Brought tears to my eyes just reading it. I bet they would love having someone to take pictures of their art!

Your art is so different from mine, but I love it! The details are amazing and the expression of the animals too!

Hi Pam!

This post touches my heart. I have a thing for the elderly especially those that don't have anyone. I am going to volunteer someday when my children are a bit older to sit and visit with the ones that are lonely. There is just so much to learn from them.

Glad you are having a great visit with your Mom.

I want to see pics of their art too!

Hugs,
Michelle
