Old Pictures..........

My Mom at Eigthteen....
I remember when I was growing up and having to sit through those boring and drawn out moments of "picture time". Anytime I would visit a relative it was time to drag out the pictures of people that I didn't know or have any memory of and listen to all the adults in the room laugh and tell stories pertaining to the photo. Now it's different....I find I am enthralled with the stories and 'blasts from the past" and I hunger for more. To see my parents when they were young and how my own children resemble them is nothing more than "mind blowing"! Hanging all the pictures in my mom's new place makes me realize how important her memories are to her and that this world is her comfort zone. As I walk down the halls of this beautiful retirement center where she now lives I see so many residents that sit alone and NEVER have anyone visit and their walls in their rooms are bare. Pictures are important, our connection with our family and ancestors is important. The foundation of who we are is because of the blood that travels in our veins from generations of family. How we mold that foundation is up to us. So now every picture that I hang or look at has new meaning and becomes a treasured part of LIFE.......

She is beautiful!!! Reminds me a little of Judy Garland at that age, doesn't she? And what a GREAT HAT!! I want that hat and have a really cool collection of those oldies and great ones. I am so happy that you are enjoying your time and all the memories.

Have a great week!

Hugs, alba

Your mom resembled a young Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz!!! How cool to have that photo. I wish I had photos of my mom at a young age. I think my older sister absconded with them. I shall have to get her......

I just loved your comments about photo's. With my own family I have to son's one 1,900 miles from home the other 1 1/2 hrs. I have a sister in Australia also.. and those pictures.. they mean so much.. I have a whole table with nothing but family photo's on it in my living room and when I'm lonely I only have to look at them to have a warm heart.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Your mom looks so stylish!

(On an unrelated note -- your Easter cartoon, have you seen the one similar? The one on the left has a bite out of his tail and he says, "My butt hurts" and the other with no ears says "What?"

Sorry, back to the program! :-)

Truer words were never spoken in a blog ... photos are pictures to the past, to be treasured.

I hate it when people throw out old photo albums, it is a tragedy to me. So glad your mum has hers and to know that you will treasure them for ever x
