- I sew because I find that sewing is cheaper than a shrink! I am an "empty nester" mom, sniff, sniff, very sad! My children live all over the place, China, Australia and California. They learned to spread their wings at a young age and did so with a vengeance, lol! I also have six of the most incredible and beautiful grandchildren on the planet....just another proud Grandma! Been married to my soul-mate for over 40 years, and we still make each other laugh! I am a self taught character-maker and pattern designer and very proud of it, but if anybody has any hints on how to make money at this I would be happy, ecstatic, to listen! I have been fortunate enough to have been published in Country Marketplace magazine (no longer with us, darn) Country Sampler, Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens, "Prims", Cloth Doll Magazine, A Primitive Place, Art Doll Quarterly and Cloth, Paper, Scissors and I'm an artist at the amazing Halloween Event "Ghoultide Gatherings"! I have over 250 patterns which can be found on my website www.softinthehead.com I have been designing characters longer than I care to remember, 30 years, which means I started at the age of 10...ha ha, I wish!
