Junk or Treasure??????

I'm a "Primitive" designer and with that often comes a bit of the past tagging along. Often I will use objects to build from, like an old clock, candlestick or even a book! I love old and rusty cause they have the best stories to tell and sometimes the characters I add help to tell that story! Even my house is old and rusty and I do know it's bursting at the seams with stories! You could drop me in an prestigious antique store and I would be nosing around looking for the one item that is scraped and torn....one that has seen better days and I'm in love! Maybe it's my over active imagination but I hear these treasures whispering to me and I go with it. Broken clocks can be rejuvenated into a theatre of busy little characters or the body for one character! I remember last year my clock pumpkin guy was a HUGE hit. His body was the clock but in the back of the clock there was a mouse winding it up...or the rustic candelabra with comical ghostly mice hanging from it and being playful! Everything has a beginning and it is my job as a "primitive" artist to tackle that beginning and follow it to the end....of course chuckling the whole way!

You are so full of imagining. I just love it. I didn't see the clock with the mouse winding it up. Can you post it again?

TREASURES! I was in a prestine antique shoppe once. It was cleaner than my house. She asked me what kind of antiques I liked and I told her dusty, rusty and quirky. She gave me a dirty look. LOL! Thanks for sharing ~*~Lisa

Pam,
Oh, TREASURES for SURE!!!!

I love to see creations made with old treasures from the past.. the more tattered the better :)The end result is filled with that much more charm..

I'm right with you...At Christmas, my husband usually heads to an antique shop, finds the keeper, and asks for anything "old, broken, rusty, or weird...." He hasn't let me down yet!! I find that I'm drawn to the utilitarian objects because the make me wonder who owned it, how often it was used, and whether they looked at it differently than we look at our everyday items today....I, too, missed the clock - sounds delightful...Will have to scour your archives and see if I can find it....Have a wonderful day! Rust, dust, and tattered bits are the best! Always love what you do with all of it! :-)
