The Love of Dust Catchers......

My Eclectic Soul...and Then Some.....
Are any of you like me, you collect "stuff"? My collections are many and cover a huge arena. I guess I would say my Halloween collection, small and humble as it is, would be my favorite and second would be my collection of signed 1st edition books, the older the better! Of course you could throw in there my obsession for clocks, old trunks, antique quilts and the occasion rustic and often non-functioning rocking chair! Gosh I'm a mess! After reading this I think I need therapy! Good thing I live in an old rustic and battered looking country store huh, cause my obsessions feel right at home here! I do love the fact that I have a corner where I can keep my Halloween up 24/7. Since these pictures were taken I have added pieces from Allen Cunningham, Scott Smith, Carolee Clark, Cathy Pendelton and Nicole Sayer, so it has grown! One of my all time favorite things is that raggedy old witches hat which is actually a "Sorting Hat" puppet! My grandsons loved it! Most of the Halloween pieces I have were gifts from family and friends and even if they aren't valuable "money wise" they are very valuable to me "love wise"! Up on one the shelves of my Halloween corner I have a dozen or more copies of antique books about witches from fairy tales to actual accounts of the Salem witch trails. Vintage and antique books about witches are difficult to find but I'm always looking. You will also notice one of my own characters, "Marley the Ghost". This is the only piece of my own work I own. When I finished him I fell in love and couldn't part with him....glad I kept him! My house has no rhyme or reason and would never make it into any magazine of "House Beautiful" but it is comfortable and fun. Everyone that visits feels at home and entertained at the same time! If what they say is true and your house is a reflection of yourself....."Holy Jumpin' Jelly Beans" I'm in serious trouble!!!!!! It's All Dan's Fault!!!!!

Halloween art is right near the top of my list for collectables. Who can resist the appeal? Being an artist who creates mostly Christmas decorations I find myself drooling over your collection and wouldn't mind owning and displaying it.

I don't feel so bad now, lol.
Usually when people come and visit, they walk off with a few things, so that keeps my clutter down;)

Those books are hard to find! What a wonderful collection. Those organizing shows on TV that make folks throw out their collections and heirlooms so they can create a hotel room environment give me the creeps. Kudos to you! ~*~Lisa

I think its great you have such freedom to just collect what you like instead of going for the matchy, matchy look. It is a reflection of who you are and it is refreshing. Hugs, Cathy
