The Spirit Is?????

The Christmas Spirit is........
As the years pass, and I get far to old, I find myself pondering more and more about the "Spirit of Christmas"! I'm sure many will think that the "Spirit of Christmas" is all about the birth of Christ but I think that the "Spirit" of this time of year even goes further and deeper. Being not a Christian myself I find it easier for me to look beyond the religious meaning of this time and look for more of the magic of the season!

Life offers us many opportunities to escape reality but none more than Christmas. I think that the "powers that be" have given us this special time to enjoy the innocence of being just human for a short time, almost like a time to re-charge our internal batteries and remember the reason why we live. Everywhere we look our senses are re-vitalized with the "warm fuzzies" of life. The smells, sounds and sights are better at this time of year.....from the baking of Christmas cookies to the magical light displays that make even the most curmudgeon smile we find ourselves up-lifted in the "Spirit of Christmas"!

As I begin to drag "ALL" my Christmas treasures out to set up around me for the holidays I feel the "Spirit" fill my heart with the anticipation of family arriving and knowing that Santa will be making a trip down our chimney this year (actually our stove pipe!) because I will have three little boys (our grandsons) here waiting his arrival! There is nothing that emulates the "Spirit of Christmas" more then the magic of the season seen through a child's eyes. As a child I use to lie under our tree and look up through the colorful branches and imagine all the magic the season had to offer....well this year I will be doing the same but with my grandsons! May the "Spirit of Christmas" fill you hearts this season with love and kindness and your tummies with cookies!

Hello Pam,

You always seem to have so much to say, and yet sometimes with so few words... thank you for sharing your thoughts on the "Spirit of Christmas." I've struggled to put into words how and why this time of year should feel magical... and you've really hit the nail on the head for me this morning.

May you find your home and your heart filled with the wonder of experiencing the holiday through they eyes and hearts of your grandchildren.

Brightest Blessings to you and yours...

Peace,
Dana

Hi Pam,
I agree with you about seeing Christmas through a child's eyes. Just when it could start to get a bit 'stale'...God gives us dear little grandchildren to freshen and brighten the Magic that is Christmas.
For me, as a follower of Christ, it is also so very much more than just a magical time...it is also a miraculous time.
Hope your days are Merry and Bright.
