Some History in Virginia......

Mary Draper Ingles Cabin.....Radford Va.
Here are some pictures of where Dan was this last weekend...it is like stepping back in time. The story about the "Ingles Cabin" is this: Her family owned and operated Ingles Ferry on the New River, known today as the Ingles Family Farmstead. She was captured by the Shawnee Indians at the Draper's Meadow's Massacre in 1755 and taken to Big Bone Lick, Kentucky. From there she escaped and traveled 850 miles home to the New River Valley. Quite a hero in my book and an inspiration for all women! Dan slept outside under the stars with some of his Virginia 7th buddies and then they were were off to the "Smithfield Plantation" to march, shoot and demonstrate....Gotta love this "Old Man" of mine he is really in his element when he steps back in time...he's pretty amazing!

Dear Pam,

This looks wonderful. To be able to live your passion.

I have read the book and have the dvd called "Follow The River", which I believe is about your heroine, Mary Draper.
She was indeed an amazing woman and is such inspiration.

I enjoyed seeing the old cabin,it's interior and the Smithfield Plantation encampment.
It looks wonderful...
Thanks so much,
Christine

Hi Pam~
Thank you for sharing your photos of Dan's adventures. One day, I would really like to visit Virginia and some of these historical sites.
I hope all is going well...I am melting in Las Vegas.
