A while back I bought some vintage Edger Allen Poe books....love them! As I was staring at the books I envisioned a raven standing on top waiting for the next curious reader to stop by and jump into the mystery and macabre of Poe's writings! The paper was fragile and the books looked old and worn but that's what excited me. Sooo, I forged ahead and created a cloth/clay raven to stand stoically atop a volume and entice the curious! I'm known for combining pieces of the past with works of today. There is something to be said about old and rusty! I love imagining characters with limbs of wire and nails to having bodies of old lanterns and books. On my travels to Pa. to shop, my dear friend Carolee, "King of Mice" studios, took me on an adventure that rewarded me with many worn and aged treasures. I'm looking forward to see what will emerge from these pieces of the past and just how whimsical they will become! Wish me luck!
