Williamsburg and Dan....

My Weekend Warrior! (He's the short one!)
Often I am left home alone while my "better" half goes out into the world to re-live history and march and fight along side his Virginia 7th comrades. This last weekend took him off to Williamsburg, Va. Here are a couple of great pictures of my "weekend warrior" in full costume with his prized flintlock long rifle, which by the way he is a crack shot with. I have often wished I had the same love and devotion he has for our American history and could go out into this imaginary world and enjoy it the same way he does, but alas I am the proverbial stick in the mud and prefer my warm cozy bed and electric blanket to his bed of straw and wool blanket. Dan has such a knowledge of our American history that he not only re-enacts it he gets it! I just love this man and everything that goes into making him who he is. You Go Dan...Enjoy!

awesome pictures. I love history. We have a civil war camp re-enactment here every year. I am like you. I am a homebody.

I almost got Pam to come with me with the promise that she wouldn't have to dress up and could be a Ramada Ranger (sleep in a hotel). Also promised a free meal at Chowning's Tavern and a Freedom of the City pass. As Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by that much!"

Pam ~ sounds like you missed out on a great deal offered by Dan!! I love Williamsburg and my husband often thought he would like to be a reenacter ~ But I'd have to do the Ramada thing, too! Thanks for sharing ~ he looks great!!

Re-enacting is so much fun but I really like a real bed! Warm wishes, Esther

Years ago I was a member of the 3rd NY Regt; Brigade of the American Revolution. I was dating a reenactor so I was a 'camp follower'. Actually really loved it. Still put some of those skills to use occasionally.

Its wonderful to have such a passion for history... to be able to return to the life our forefathers endured.
I laugh when people refer to the good olde days and how many would give up their pillow-top mattress to lay on a pallet on the cold, damp earth.
Cheers to Dan and his devotion to where we came from...
