OMG! My Mice Are Being Stalked!

I HAVE A MOUSE STALKER!!!!!!
This business comes with a lot of senseless hull-a-baloo and greed. A person (me for instance) can spend sometimes days trying to figure out a design and/or vignette and "POOF" just like that someone comes to your blog and takes it away and calls it theirs! You know I hate the word "copy", it's such an overly used word and so many people out in the art world sling it around like a Frisbee on Saturdays at the park. I kinda like using imitate, duplicate, resemble or my old time fav reproduce! I am being hit pretty hard right now with this ridiculous act by someone that seems to like visiting my blog sometimes 10-12 times a day. They REALLY like my mice pictures and proceed to check every single one of them out. Well needless to say I had to check this person out and "Low and Behold" they are selling patterns. Now not just any pattern mind you but they are selling "MOUSE" patterns and oddly enough the mice look just like a pattern that I started selling in 2006....Wow isn't that something? Why is this necessary? Does an individual really get gratification from creating something from another persons imagination. Personally I think the gratification should come from knowing you did it on your own. All ARTISTS can stand back and know they created what they have with bits and pieces of themselves inside their work, this is why stealing any part of it is criminal.....To my mouse stalker....just know I'm watching and I do have an attorney in the family. I'm a generous soul by nature and I will let some things slide once and then my darkside starts to get antsy.....

So sorry to hear someone has to stoop so low. You are one of the most creative souls, with a very generous nature. Your work is unmistakable, and it will be very obvious that someone is trying to profit in your shadow, but they will never steal your "light".

Hugs,
From one of your adoring fans!
Sam

Sorry you are having to deal with this. This person is such a loser to steal your work and try to pass it off as their own. Fortunately for you...your work is unique and no one can duplicate your signature style.

Well they say that imitation is the best form of flattery, but this takes the cake. Your work cannot be mistaken. Don't let this get you down, your originality is what sells!

Yeah... that really sucks!!! I have recreated things from patterns and have sold them but I always give the designer created... after all they're the ones that came up with the design not me. I just like the challenge of re-creating things. Everyone is right though your body of work has it's own style and that can not be reproduced.

Hugs,

Theresa

I feel the same way Theresa does. I use lots of designers patterns. BUT...I always give them credit. That's just the only way to do it. Just because you CAN duplicate someone's work, doesn't make it right. Pam, your work is UNMISTAKEABLE!!!! Just to play devil's advocate... On the other hand...how many ways can a mouse pattern be made? Who made the original mouse pattern, and when? Aren't all patterns from that point on, just a knock off? I notice so much of this kind of thing going on in the prim world. I pattern shop A LOT...it is my businesses life blood...new patterns for new inventory. I know the designers work well Sometimes I'll even say...Hey! that looks like so and so's pattern.... It turns me off sometimes, and I refuse to buy from some designers. Another thing...HELLO!!! COPYRIGHT!! Don't people know what that means? You go girl...get your attorney on the case!

Dearest Pam,
HOW DARE THEY! we have talked about this before but I know just how you feel.
Rest easy my friend. This too shall pass and if it doesn't well then GOd help them cause if they fire you up they will be sorry!
You will be onto something bigger, brighter and way out of range for them in no time. I think a friend told me that one time with I had issues similar. (hugs)
Have a great week and just keep on rolling my friend.
Hugs,Pea

This incident has bothered me all day! I think I may have purchased one of the patterns you were talking about....That makes me feel bad. I got it out and it really does look similar to some of your work. ANYWAY...I just want you to know that I support you, and I know that God has blessed you with a tremendous talent (of which I am HUGELY jealous! :) This talent will rise above all this crapola.

Dear Pam,

There's nothing much more to be added here after all the statements made by those wonderful women preceding me but remember this, you are the artist behind those wonderful mouse characters and THEY know you as "MOM" and creator. The copycat is a vicious, self loathing, sneak thief who has no imagination and needs to usurp it to make her mark on life. The funny part is that her mark is dark and that karma will get her back.

You can report her to any sites that she is selling on - they can stop her also!

Good luck with this honey and hope you have a great and peaceful summer with no thoughts other than your newest creations.

Hugs, alba

Always know that your designs are beloved by many and treasures to those lucky enough to own one! I use to sell on ebay and loved it and still make things for myself, but....the copycat nonsense was out of control. One -designer- of primitives with quite a following copied 2 of my dolls and claimed them as her own, and so I lost interest on selling thru ebay. She has done this to many then claims copyrite! I have no idea who your culprit is, but shame on them whoever it may be! Keep calling them out and let them know you are watching!!!
