THE "BUZZ" ABOUT THE BIZ.....!
I have always been known for my candidness regarding my success or the lack of, at my shows. By me being candid helps others get a better grasp of what to expect and to prepare for accordingly. While I have been under tremendous stress at what to expect because of our fragile economy, I forgot one very important thing. What is success and how should we measure it? A very wise friend wrote to me when I had expressed to her my concerns and said: When someone can walk into your booth after a horrid week, day or hour and a smile erupts on their face and chuckle is heard, then consider yourself a success! Money is nice but happiness in this time of chaos is much more rewarding....ya know she's right! Thanks Cheriese! So I guess I had a VERY successful show this last weekend, LOL! The funny thing about this show is that for the first time people referred to me as an artist not a crafter! I even had the newspaper come by to interview me because they were so taken with my style and the whimsical feel of my little characters. I have to tell ya it was quite an honor! Money was tight for so many and the lack of bags at this seriously crowded show illustrated it, but there was no lack of amusement and upbeat chatter from all those that stepped into my tent. Anything under $50 was adopted right away and treasured. All of the more intricate and high end characters got to come home with me to spend some more time at "The Home of Soft" until their trip to Columbus, Ohio. Be prepared my fellow showmen that the economy is a definite hurdle but we can still deal with it and provide some happiness and pleasure to so many...they need us!

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

We are glad to have you home, you were missed.. Hugs Deb
Thank you for sharing! I think it is so true that to put a smile on someone's face is priceless! I am a store owner & also do shows & often times people comment on how reasonable my prices are..I always tell them that it makes my job "complete" to see someone cherish something I worked so hard on...
Good luck in Oh!
Blessings,
lisa
Smiling's my favorite! :)
And you are not only an artist but an extremely talented one at that!

Welcome Back.!!
The economy is so tough right now..we take a big chance when we head out to shows...but all we can do it keep plugging along and do our very best..things will all work out in the end.
Hugs,
D
I agree with your comment. The smiles and giggles are priceless.
Good advice from your friend and glad you shared it.

I found the very same thing at my show on Saturday. I had a blast, made some cash, but the high end stuff came home and now decorates my living and craft rooms! This will in no way deter me from doing what I love--crafting! Things will turn around and we'll be ready!
Welcome back P2 and we're getting even closer now! We're going to have a blast no matter what sales are like! But honestly, I have a good feeling. And yes the lower priced items always sell the best it seems, and it looks like that's not just here in Ohio.
And pics from the show??? *hint*hint*wink*wink*

Pam,
Ocourse your treasures brought many smiles, giggles and love to those who view them. Ofcourse you are artist but I knew that years ago when I first discovered your work and I knew then that you would someday be most admired by more then just me.
Hope the next show is much better, there is still a glimmer of hope for all of us. We just have to take a bite in the prices I am afraid. But keep creating my friend. If you brought home softies then you will never be lonely. LOL I think I will have some new friends as well.
Have a wonderful week dear lady.
Blessings,Pea
Rest assured your creations will find homes, homes where they will continue to bring smiles and giggles to all that chance upon them.
As far as the slightly more expensive ones coming home with you to head out to the Ohio show, just think of the tales they tell to those left behind when you and the Mister are abed!

isn't it funny how we measure most everything in America by monetary value?....especially success!....glad you had that enlightning....
Oh... thank you for this post... I am preparing for a rather large show this weekend. I ALWAYS have done VERY well, but I have no idea of what this weekend will hold. I am changing a few prices... as I read your under $50.00 experience. Thank you... Thank you...
Have a Wonderful, AuTuMn WeeKeNd, Pamela
Thank you for the heads up on your show experience. It is so helpful to know a kinda price point cut off. I happy to hear you had a fun time, and that is what counts the most ~Jessica
