Reading to Someone Else's Music.......
How do you feel about "blog" music? Personally I love it and try to select pieces that others will enjoy and also enhance the pictures on my blog. It was brought to my attention recently that the music may deter individuals from paying me a visit and I should re-consider. I must admit that the selections I find on some other blogs may not be to my liking but I thought that was what an "on and off" switch was for????? I enjoy music so much and I'm a VERY eclectic soul when it comes to my choices. You might even find some of my music is sang in different languages but the tempo, THE MUSIC, reaches us all and I just love anything that moves me. I am a huge fan of Bluegrass and have a few selections of that on my blog because I realize it isn't for everyone....but it sure does make me smile and makes me want to shake my rather large backside and stomp my feet! My work is often created from the sounds of these tunes and depending the mood of the music, has a direct influence on the expression one might see on my characters faces! Let me know how you feel about my music and if the majority says to loose it than I will consider it! Notice I said "consider" it! I LOVE TO BOOGIE!!!!!

Your choice of music is more appealing than most ~ but since you asked ~ I prefer to do my blog reading sans music!!! I'm probably the only one!!! But I love your blog!!! And you!!
I love the music too! :-) I was a bit on the fence about putting it on my blog for the very reason you stated, but I soon realized that part of what drew me to favorite blogs was thier music! Yes, I do hit the off button on a couple, but most of them are a pleasure. I love it when I go into a store and it's playing music that suits the items for sale. It adds wonderful atmosphere and so is touching that extra auditory sense. Combine that with the visuals and, if in person some nice sented candles and it's an experiance to truly remember and enjoy. I'll often tune into a blog just for the music! It's great!.. but then, that's me. :-)

Actually, I LOVE the music on your site. I vote to keep the music! Speakers have on/off buttons for indiviuals who wish to turn the music off or down.
I too love music on blogs. .I know that there is a growing argument to not have the sound, but I think that if carefully chosen, it helps create the atmosphere of the blog.
It is like walking into an individually owned shop, and having the music match the merchandise being offered for sale. I LOVE those shops where you find scented candles wafting lightly on the air, and either acoustic, classical, or ethnic music softly playing in the background. Your neck and shoulder muscles relax, your daily tensions at least temporarily wash away. It is amazing what a little music and aroma therapy can do for you!
And visiting neat blogs, such as your own, is just like that! (except I have to light my own candle! lol) But I have a bottle of bamboo sticks in scented oil on my computer cabinet, so yes, I do have the fragrance too.
I've been introduced to singers that I've not been familiar with before, so it also helps to expand my appreciation of music, and for that I am grateful!
And, if I should come across a blog that I like, but I don't happen to share their musical selections, I have the option of turning the volume off on my computer. .easy solution!
I think that the music that you choose, is a part of who you are. .and I vote to keep the melodies flowing!
Thanks for asking our thoughts!
I like your choice of music. Actually your blog music is probably my favorite. Please don't stop playing it:)
But, I did read somewhere recently regarding music on blogs where the blogger used the site for advertising/selling. Your target audience may be at work when viewing your site so they won't want music because it advertises to their boss and co-workers that are not working:)
I have never let music on a blog make my decision. As you say, that's what the off button is for. I'd simply turn my speakers off if the music bothered me that much. Good grief!
Love your blog, music and all. If people don't like it they can always press mute. :0)
Music stirs the soul and sprinkles the muse. What would life be without it?
Love You friend. Missing you.
Talk to you soon.

I say let the music play on!!!!! I'm like you I enjoy the different flavors of music... and I really enjoy going to someones blog and hearing something I've never heard before. I also find it fun when someone else listens to what I do..... so play on dear friend...play on.
Thanks everyone....I get a kick out of reading all these responses and the ones I get from Facebook and the Hive aren't here on my blog....there has been a tremendous amount of dialogue re: this. Very interesting indeed!
I say let it play!! Like everyone says " there is an off/mute button" ! Now if they are complaining about loading issues- they may need to update their adobe flash or use a different browser option!
Take care
Kim
Our blogs are a way to express ourselves. I like your blog music. If I visit a blog with music not to my liking, I turn it down. We are not all supposed to be the same - thanks goodness we are not! ~*~Lisa
Let the music play!!!!!!!
I told you I'd be the only one!! And yes, I can turn the music down on the ones that aren't as appealing as yours!!! It was a good question!! Have a good evening!!
I've already posted my thoughts, but this topic has been popping up all over the internet, and the more I thought about it, the more I started steaming. .and I'm sorry if I step on some toes, but. . .(there is always a "but" isn't there! lol)
Since when have people as a whole gotten so absorbed in themselves, that they feel that everyone must bend to their personal wishes? If a person chooses to have music on their blog, it isn't hard for the viewer to reach out and either mute the music, or turn that handy dandy little knob on their monitor, to turn off the sound. Look at it as exercising your arm!
To me, a taste in music is a part of the individual's personality. .it reflects what they feel, enjoy, and sometimes, their outlook on life. If you pay attention, you can learn another facet about the person.
To me, a person requesting that you ditch the music, would be the same as them coming to your blog, saying that they don't like your artwork, and to please make something that they do like, so that they can enjoy looking at your blog!
Personally, "elevator music" doesn't thrill me, and when I walk into a store or medical facility, which always seem to favor such homogenized music, I either have to ignore it by reading a book, or in the case of shopping. .either get it done, and leave, or turn around and leave. .I don't go and ask management to turn off the music to suit me. .I don't have that option. .but here in blogland, we do! With just a simple flick of the wrist. .and no one need ever know. .
Thanks for letting me vent! And I'm glad to see that you are keeping your music! I've always been fond of bluegrass too .its roots go deep, and the talents run high! And if anyone wants to be mesmerized and elated at the same time, get yourself to a bluegrass festival this summer! Good family fun!
Oh Alice ...even if you don't like the music you still come to my blog. Besides, your opinion is important to me and to be honest there are some blogs I love to visit but their choice in music is just not my taste so I turn off my speakers.
Thanks for venting here Suzie...I seriously enjoyed your vent and it makes a good case on this music debate. Bottom line is: my site my choice....
Thank you everyone!!!!!
Greetings from Southern California
I believe God put me on earth to accomplish a certain number of things and I will live until my work on earth is done. Visiting blogs is one of them. Right now I am so far behind I don't think I will ever die! :-)
God bless you and have a nice day :-)
Maybe this will help. I will go onto a blog and if I like the music, which most of the time I do, I will leave it on and open a new window and let the music play. Many times I write my blog or emails with someone's elses music from their blog simply because I like it. There are a few blogs I hit the mute button on because it is not my taste but yours is simply divine. Besides P.K. your work is so fabulous why worry. God bless. Cathy
