The Journey.......

Often the beginning of a design starts with a particular goal or idea in mind but in my case it turns out to be something completely different when I'm finished.  Case in point....this mushroom!  I originally started to make a stool for a mouse and look what I got instead...a "Toadstool"!  Being creative is a journey and sometimes that journey takes you to some pretty interesting places.  The part of this journey that I often find intriguing is how we discover different techniques and the use of certain materials along our way.  We also discover a very important part of who or what our creative spirit is!   This is how your work gets identified out there in the "Art World".  I'm sure many of you can surf the internet like Ebay for instance and know right away whose work is whose and who is copying.  It's easy for someone with skills to pick and choose what they like about a body of work and then use it to create something of their own....but it's more challenging and fun to actually travel that journey of self discovery and let your talent explode with your creative spirit.  There are no short cuts to creativity and originality...it is hard work and many, many failed attempts to get it right...but it's those failed attempts that constantly open the doors to possibilities and new discoveries....after all,  I now have a toadstool instead of just a stool.... imagine those POSSIBILITIES!

I wonder if this toadstool will have a blue caterpillar appear? Can't wait to see who appears!

What fun they are to make. I make toad stools like that. They look good with a bear on as well as a mouse.
